Tom is a successful entrepreneur who has fueled impressive growth of both his family business – Vertin – and a range of other companies. Under Tom’s leadership, Vertin grew from a local funeral home to one of the Midwest’s largest privately held, family-owned funeral home companies. In addition, Tom founded a business management firm in 1974 that today serves the interests of a diverse range of businesses. As an entrepreneur, he has been involved in several start-ups, hospitality firms, and real estate developments. 

Tom is also highly committed to the communities his firms serve. He believes in the philosophy of working like a family and maintains an unwavering commitment to the belief that families are better served through cooperation, not competition.
